Thirty-five local individuals and organizations have been successful in receiving a Redland
City Council Community Grant, including programs to support anti-bullying campaigns and
train Marine Rescue volunteers in First Aid.
Council contributed over $200,000 of funding for Round 2 of the 2011/12 Community Grants
Program, which provides the not-for-profit sector with much needed funding to assist
community initiatives that will benefit the residents of Redland City.
Council received 41 applications under the categories Organisation Support, Project Support
and Conservation Grants, with 35 applications ultimately successful in receiving funds for
their unique and worthwhile projects.

The submission evaluators were impressed with the passion, innovation and diversity that
were evident in this tranche of applications presented to Council, highlighting a strong sense
of community and compassion in the Redlands.
The winning grants were approved at Council’s General Meeting, held on 18 April. Some of
the successful recipients of Round 2 of the Grants include:
The Volunteer Marine Rescue for First Aid and Radio education and training ($2,250
Organisation Support Grant).
The BABI Family and Youth Service to conduct ‘Stop Harassing Me’ postcard
community presentations to public high school students and to create a DVD as a
educational resource in addressing bullying ($10,000 Project Support Grant).
Birkdale South State School P&C to educate and raise awareness of the Redland’s
Environment, in particular its koala population and its conservation, through music
and drama performance ($8,900 Conservation Grant).

Community Grants Program – Round 1 2012/13 Applications
The next funding opportunity will be Round 1 of 2012/13 which invites applications for the
Organisation Support, Project Support, Conservation Grants, Capital Infrastructure and
Regional Arts Development Fund categories. Submissions open on 23 July 2012 and close
on 31 August 2012.
Free Grant Application Writing Workshops will be held between 19 July 2012 and 2 August
2012. Eligible individuals and organisations who wish to apply for funding in Round 1
2012/13 are encouraged to attend the workshops. These workshops provide tips to
applicants on how to write an application. Bookings are essential, contact the Grants Team
