School holiday activities

This winter school holidays Redland Libraries, Redlands IndigiScapes Centre and Redland Art Gallery have lots of activities to keep youngsters entertained! From spotlighting and earth exploring, to dinosaur days out, wearable art and drop-in art sessions, there’s a great range to suit kids of all ages.

All activities are free or low cost. Bookings for library activities and art gallery workshops are now open. Bookings for IndigiScapes activities open Monday 23 June. For dates, details and booking information visit our libraries, Art Gallery and IndigiScapes.

NAIDOC Week Display

Request for war memorabilia

We will host an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Serving Country – Centenary and Beyond display during NAIDOC Week (7 – 12 July) at Cleveland Library. We are seeking local photographs, small artefacts and/or stories which relate to all wars in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders serving Country.

Council is also seeking names of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander servicemen and servicewomen for a Redlands ‘Honour Roll’ poster. To contribute memorabilia or add a name to this display, contact Di Andews by email or phone 3829 8914.

 

Waste safety message

EPIRB disposal

Council cannot accept Emergency Positioning Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) at Waste Transfer Stations or in kerbside waste bins. Incorrect disposal can cause serious safety issues or trigger false distress alarms wasting taxpayers’ money and valuable resources.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority advises unwanted or expired EPIRBs can be taken to any Battery World store for free disposal. The nearest store in Redlands is at Capalaba.

Tapas and music at RPAC

This Friday 20 June

Come along to the Piazza at Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) from 5-7pm this Friday 20 June for a night of tapas and free live entertainment.

The night’s entertainment includes original music and covers of popular songs from Eva Cassidy, Sting, Sam Smith, Coldplay, Justic Crew, Sia, Sheppard and Michael Jackson performed by Noisy Minors and other artists from Vocal Manoeuvres.

When: Friday 20 June, 5 – 7pm
Where: RPAC Piazza, 2-16 Middle Street, Cleveland (Parking available on site)
