Helping the Redlands’ koala population is as easy as reporting sightings during the annual koala count-a-thon on 25-26 October.
During the weekend event, supported by RCC and organised by the Koala action group locals and visitors are urged to report all sightings to gain an understanding of the location and number of koalas in the Redlands.
While koala sightings can be logged year round, October is an ideal time to conduct the survey with it coinciding with koala breeding season when koalas are most active.

The event is not only a great way to help the Redlands’ iconic koala, but it is also an event that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

To take part all you need to do is keep your eyes open for a koala on 25-26 October and report the sighting.  Participants will be asked for the exact location of the koala, whether it looks healthy, the type of tree it is in (eucalypt or other) and whether they can identify the sex.
