Seqwater has advised water has been restored at Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra Islands in Southern Moreton Bay on Redlands Coast.

Properties will progressively get water back as Council flushes pipes to remove air in the lines that may have been drawn into the system due to the shut down.

The water was restored to the islands just after 6am today after Seqwater crews worked overnight to replace an old section of Seqwater mains pipe that had burst on Karragarra Island.

Council provided bottled water overnight, assisted by the Southern Moreton Bay Island champions.

Council crews are also flushing Council pipes on each of the islands.

The water is safe to drink. If it is cloudy when taps are first turned on, please run the water for 2-3 minutes for it to clear. The cloudiness is due to air trapped in the water.

Water hydrants may also be flowing as the lines are flushed – please do not turn off the hydrants.

Thank you to residents for their patience overnight.
