Redland City Council will apply the State Government’s $55 water discount to eligible customers in its 2023 January rates and water notice.

The January 2023 rate notices, which as usual will include State Government bulk water charges, will be issued on 11 January 2023 for payment by 13 February 2023.

Council’s October 2022 rate notice that went out today via post and email was produced before the State Government announcement yesterday, so won’t include the $55 discount.

This State Government discount on water bills applies for the period 15 to 29 October 2022 for eligible SEQ households, including those who receive a Redland City Council water bill (as part of the rate notice) and who are connected to the SEQ Water Grid.

The State Government announced yesterday it will release water from Wivenhoe Dam in a bid to lower levels at southeast Queensland’s largest dam before the region is hit with severe weather.

The water release will occur from tomorrow, Saturday 16 October for two weeks with the aim of dropping the water levels in the dam from 90 per cent to 80 per cent before the storm season.

The State Government is encouraging residents to use this time to use additional water on activities such as washing driveways, gurneying houses and flushing out gutters around the home.

This is also a good time to sign up to receive your Redland City Council rate notice via email and view your water usage and charges online.

To do this, register with Council’s myServices online portal where you can also pay your rates, register your pets, and access your property details.

You can also set up direct debit to pay your rate notice, by completing the Direct Debit Request [PDF 1.0MB]

For more information on the $55 discount, including to see if you’re connected to the SEQ Water Grid and eligible, visit the Queensland Government’s Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water https://www.rdmw.qld.gov.au/water/consultations-initiatives/water-bill-discount

For phone enquiries, you can contact the State Government on 13 74 68.
