Redland City Council’s Parks and Conservation crews, along with Russell Island Rural Fire Service, will undertake hazard reduction burns on Russell Island between Wednesday 8 September and Saturday 11 September, weather conditions permitting.

The locations of the planned burns are:

• Melomys Wetland at 4-10 Susan Street, 83-87 Glendale Road and 66-84 Glendale Road
• Water Mouse Wetland at 47-71 Stradbroke Drive
• Fern Terrace Bushland Refuge off Fern Terrace
• Whistling Kite Conservation Area at 172-216 High Street.

Traffic control teams will be on site and advisory signs will be placed in locations where traffic may be impacted by smoke.

The purpose of the burns is to reduce the volume of forest litter fuel, which will assist with hazard reduction – reducing the fire danger and providing conditions essential for native regeneration.

It is appreciated that the burns may cause some inconvenience, however all attempts will be made to limit any smoke hazards.

The burn area is located in a section of bushland off 277-293 Heinemann Road (highlighted in yellow on the map below).

The burn is expected to occur between 8.30am and 6pm on Wednesday.

The purpose of the burn is to reduce the volume of forest litter fuel, which will assist with hazard reduction – reducing the fire danger and providing conditions essential for native regeneration.

There will be a half road closure to a small section of Balthazar Circuit, and a traffic control crew will be on site.

It is appreciated that the burn may cause some inconvenience, however all attempts will be made to limit any smoke hazards.

Redland City Council’s Parks and Conservation crews along with Brisbane Region Rural Fire Service will undertake a planned burn in a section of bushland within the Bayview Conservation Area, Redland Bay on Wednesday 28 July 2021, weather permitting.

The location of the burn area is 273-305 Days Road (highlighted in yellow on the map below).

The burn is expected to occur between 9am and 4.30pm on Wednesday.

Due to the size of the burn area, Council officers will return on Thursday 29 July to continue the burn, if required, and to monitor the area which has been burned.

The purpose of the burn is to reduce the volume of forest litter fuel, which will assist with hazard reduction – reducing the fire danger and providing conditions essential for native regeneration.

There will be a half road closure to a small section of Sugargum Avenue, and a traffic control crew will be on site.

It is appreciated that this burn may cause some inconvenience, however all attempts will be made to limit any smoke hazards.

Redland City Council’s Parks & Conservation crews will undertake a hazard reduction burn in sections of bushland at Alexandra Hills and Redland Bay on Wednesday 23 June 2021, weather conditions permitting.

The location of the planned burns are:

• Scribbly Gums Conservation Area, 23-141 Flinders Street, Alexandra Hills (between 9am-5.30pm).
• Bayview Conservation Area, 273-305 Days Road, Redland Bay (between 9am-4.30pm).

A hazard reduction burn is planned for Scribbly Gums Conservation Area, in the area marked in yellow.

Some tracks around both of these areas will be closed for public access during the burns.

Track closure signs and barrier mesh will be erected in the morning and will be taken down once the burn areas are safe for public access.
